It may seem like a surprise for PIFF will to screen "Wedding Campaign" as its closing film, given it is a commercial Korean film by a new director.
But Huh Moon-young, programmer of the Korean Panorama section, explained in a news conference early last month that they decided to choose a "family film" to satisfy a general audiences, and they plan to throw a big congratulatory closing part.
Directed by Hwang Byeong-kook and also starring Soo Ae, Jung Jae-young and Yoo Jeon-sang, the movie revolves around two lonely farmers, Man-taek and Hee-chul in their late 30s who want to get married but can't find a woman willing to live with them in the countryside.
Vexed by the idea that no woman in Korea will marry them, they opt for an international marriage and begin looking for women in other countries.
When they finally go to Uzbekistan on blind dates organized by a matchmaking agency, the first and foremost thought on their minds in their 10-day, 8-night stay is that they have to find a woman to marry. Most of the film was shot in Uzbekistan.
The PIFF farewell party will be held at Yachting Center at 10 p.m. on Oct. 14 after the screening of "Wedding Campaign".
